The historic Broad Street Market was founded in 1860 during the Civil War, helping to feed the Union soldiers at Camp Curtain. Today, Broad Street Market thrives as a culturally rich place to experience the large diversity of fresh food, people, and life in Harrisburg. Founded in 1730 as an open air market, Lancaster Central Market is the oldest continuously running public farmers’ market in the country. The building, as we know it today, was built in 1889 and currently houses over 60 local vendors. Tourists come from all over to browse the market’s fine fare.
